A flair for the dramatic

If you’d told me I had a flair for the dramatic 2 years ago, I’d probably think you had another thing going on and I wouldn’t try to convince you otherwise. However as I’ve grown into my height and age its becoming increasingly difficult, because why is the tree always falling on you, if you aren’t playing under it’s branches? Because why am I in the neighborhood of the drama?
I promised some of you that I would tell the story of the mismatched shoes that graced my WhatsApp status recently and I’d like to tell the story in hindsight. You’d think that when 4 adults of sound mind decide to book a movie with a time slot of 7:45 Pm, they would have planned ahead of time on when to eat, what time to shop and what time would be safe to be in the vicinity of the Cinema hall. That wasn’t the case. At 7:30 Pm, we had not yet eaten, we didn’t have physical movie tickets just an email confirming e-payment and we didn’t have parking space. My people in their wisdom said “Gena, you go to the cinema, get our tickets while we find parking for the car. We shall find you at the entrance”
As we are still there figuring out who sticks with who, there’s a bit of traffic hold up and my people say “Gena this is a good time for you to get out.” I was wearing sandals most of the day and seeing we were in the car, I decided to kick them off momentarily. When they said move, ah ah! I moved. Considering we were pressed for time I didn’t stop to see what shoes were on my feet except my feet felt strange. i walked into the entrance of Acacia mall and realized I had mismatched shoes on.
We were probably the last people to enter the movie room, so I didn't bring my crazy shoe thing to the attention of my friends but when I did after the movie, oh what laughter they had at my expense. My sister texted when I posted and said “I can recognize your toe from a kilometer away” It really is your people and yet here we are making memories.
If I haven’t already, welcome to 2025. Let’s truly live and laugh!
Good health to you and yours.
